What Is... was a Jeopardy style game mode. To start out, players got to choose a power. Powers gave them an advantage during the game, and students would have had three choices for their powers. The game mode was discontinued on February 1st, 2024 due to Gimkit claiming it didn't match their style and it being their least popular game mode.

Gameplay

The host would have selected a square on the board. Random categories are given to the columns, and there are certain amounts of money ($100, $200, $300, etc.) on the rows. When a square was selected, players would answer that question on their screen. Once a player answered, it would say that the answer was locked in, and a random fact would be on their screen (which doesn't affect the game results). The results would then appear on the host's screen. Players won money based on speed, accuracy, and power. Once all of the squares were used up, the finale started.

During the finale, players placed bets on the finale question. This was decided at the beginning of the game by the host. The host could have choosen for it to be random, or select it themselves. Players could have bet from as low as $0 to as high as the amount of money they currently have. If you got the answer correct, you won the money you bet. If you got it wrong, you lost the money you bet. Whoever had the most money at the end won.
