Gimkit > Gamemodes > Tycoon

Tycoon is a game mode where players need to answer text input or multiple choice questions and purchase upgrades in order to make the most money. Tycoon was called Gimkit Classic up until July 31, 2024.

Game Setup

Tycoon can be played by selecting with one of three goals:

  • Timed - All players try to earn as much money as they can before the time runs out.
  • Race - All players race to be the first one to reach the cash goal.
  • All In - The game ends when the collective balance of all players reaches the cash goal.

How To Play

In Tycoon, you answer questions, earn cash, and buy powerups. These powerups can be used to get more money, sabotage the other team, change your screen's look, and more! During certain events, there may be certain powerups such as different songs you can buy.

Shop

The shop allows players to purchase upgrades, powerups, and themes. Upgrades are permanent improvements, powerups are single-use items that can be activated at will, and themes are visual changes.

Upgrades

Upgrades allow players to permanently make more money by answering questions, or lose less when getting them wrong.

Money Per Question determines the amount of money is added to the "base earning price". It does not change depending on the amount of correct answers in a row.

2 $5 $10
3 $50 $100
4 $100 $1,000
5 $500 $10,000

7 $5,000 $300,000
8 $10,000 $1,000,000
9 $250,000 $10,000,000
10 $1,000,000 $100,000,000

Streak Bonus gives you more money the more questions you answer correctly in a row.

3 $10 $200
4 $50 $2,000

9 $175,000 $200,000,000
10 1,000,000 2,000,000,000

Multiplier multiplies the amount of money you make by a certain value.

Tycoon Twists

These are game modes that are based off of Tycoon, but have a major difference from the original game:

  • Teams - Same as Tycoon, but players are put into teams and share a balance.
  • Super Rich Mode - All earnings are multiplied by 500, but upgrades have a price increase to compensate.
  • Boss Battle - All players fight against one player, referred to as the "boss".
  • Hidden Mode - The leaderboard hides balances and replaces all player names with "Someone" until the game ends.
  • Drained Mode - Balances decrease and do so at a larger rate as the game progresses.
