Rules

From The Gimkit Wiki

This page is dedicated to outlining the rules and policies of the The Gimkit Wiki. It is recommended that all new users visit this page to ensure an understanding of the rules in place. By following these rules, you also agree to follow the guidelines defined by the FANDOM terms of use.

Content Rules and Editing Guidelines

Vandalism

Any form of vandalism is not welcome on the The Gimkit Wiki. This includes:

  • Inserting inappropriate or unrelated content, spam, intentionally false information or gibberish into pages (see Spam)
  • Removing content from pages for no acceptable reason
  • Inserting or spamming links to disallowed external sites

Editing Conflicts

If you do not agree with a certain edit being made to a page, you are allowed to undo the edit and provide a reasonable reason as to why that edit should be undone and not be implemented into the page. Please do not engage in edit wars. If a user is not complying with an open-minded discussion, please contact a Staff Member to have the issue resolved.

Badge Rules

Badges are a good way to reward editors for their time and dedication to the wiki, and there is a leaderboard in place to showcase that. However, in order to allow the leaderboard to remain fair, there are some extra rules in place.

  • Do not edit farm. (e.g., constantly making edits of little consequence like adding or removing a punctuation mark to inflate your edit count)

Note: This doesn’t apply if you recently added a lot of information to a page to fix minor things - however you should attempt to limit this in order to distinguish these edits from edit farming.

  • Do not try to get badges by spamming (see Spam)

Behavior Rules

Be nice and treat people with respect. Keep discussions civil and be open-minded about differing opinions. Posts that express criticisms are allowed; posts that intentionally plan to cause flame wars or attempt to cause flame wars are strictly prohibited and will be deleted. Posts that express disagreements of a user or their style are allowed; posts that berate or insult a user in said disagreement are strictly prohibited.

If someone is making disrespectful comments towards you or other users, please use the report button, and Staff will take a look at the offending post. Engaging in flame wars with other users is highly discouraged and will likely result in the involved users receiving a punishment if you are found participating. User walls are not exempt from this rule.

Do not make posts excessively personal or post personal information, or make posts about sensitive topics like politics or religion.

Please do not post NSFW or NSFW-esque content, and please do not use profanity on this site. (****, @#$%, or ---- counts as profanity).

If a user is not following the rules, you may notify them about their behavior if you report the post/comment or notify a staff member. Please do not mini-mod without making staff aware.

Do not discriminate or make fun of disabilities.

Please avoid self-promotion without asking a staff member for permission. If you are granted permission, you may not include phrases such as “please subscribe” or “please follow”.

Refrain from necroposting. A necropost is a reply to a post that is more than one month old or a reasonable time as decided by staff. This rule does not apply to mega threads such as The Lobby.

Impersonation

Do not impersonate other users.

Examples of impersonation include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Making an account and/or profile picture with an extremely similar name to someone in the community intentionally (ex: “T1mmyTheAlien” or “TimmyTheAlien_” )
  • Claiming to be a staff member or FANDOM staff on an alternative account for bad faith reasons (ex: “I’m staff on an alt I’ll ban you if you don’t give me the season pass”)

Harassment

Please refrain from attacking or raiding users on their message wall or editing their profile page in a malicious manner. If you have an issue with a certain user, please contact Staff about the issue. Users should not attack, instigate, or attempt to cause drama with other users in the comments and discussions section. Pages meant just as an attack on someone will be deleted.

Scamming and Begging

No scamming of any kind will be tolerated on this wiki. Doing so will result in immediate punishment.

Examples of scamming include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Posting links to unauthorized websites - especially ones meant to farm information (e.g., "Free Season Pass" or "Free Gimbucks")
  • Posting threads which claim to give free things in exchange for account information (e.g., "Double your Gimbucks")

Begging is also disallowed on this wiki - including, but are not limited to the following:

  • Continually asking for things if you get no as a reply
  • Continually ask to become staff (e.g., "make me a mod pls") - We have a form for this when positions are open.
  • Begging on message walls, discussion posts, blog posts, etc.
  • Begging for an unban after you were already unbanned and getting banned again.

Cheats and Bugs Policy

Modifications/Cheats/Hacks are not allowed on this wiki. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

Note: Some people call very good strategies "Cheats" or "Hacks" even though they do not modify the game. These are still allowed and are not affected by this rule.

  • Mention of cheats by name (e.g., "(insert name of hack here) is a good way to speedrun Gimbuck collection")
  • Links to cheats or cheat websites
  • Showing images or videos involving cheats

Bugs are allowed to be mentioned and shared as long as they are possible in an unmodified version of Gimkit.

Speed Running Post Rules

If you are going to do a Speedrun on "DLD" or "OWO" then you have to screen record your Speedrun and make a post including the video of your Speedrun, and a photo of the final leaderboard/scoreboard in order for it to be considered valid. Pinging people if you pass their score is not allowed unless they specifically request it.

Posting Etiquette

Put proper content in their proper places.

  • Discussion Posts: Questions, Suggestions, Strategy, etc. This is for something that we can discuss as a wiki.

Note: You can only make 5 discussion posts a day unless given explicit permission from staff. This is to prevent discussion post spam.

  • Blog Posts: If you have a story to tell, or you want to promote your related blog, YouTube channel, etc.

Note: You can only make 8 blog posts a day unless given explicit permission from staff. This is to prevent blog post spam.

  • User Profile: This is yours, make it look cool if you wish. Do not edit someone else's profile without their permission if you have the ability to.
  • Pages: ONLY for information about that topic
  • Interactive Maps: Only for gamemodes (Unless you have permission otherwise from staff.)
  • Message Wall: Where you can directly talk to other users and other editors.
  • Article Comments: Make a comment on that article.
  • Admin Announcements: For staff use only - generally for announcements which everyone should hear.

Note: Please do not use this type unless you are Staff, or you may be punished.

Spam

Wikis are a great place to build content on a specific topic (like Gimkit), but it is not a place to spam links or to post non-Gimkit related material. Spam will be removed, so please don't add it to begin with.

Examples of spamming include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Excessive repetition of a given line or sentence (e.g., "stache best gim stache best gim stache best gim stache best gim")
  • Flooding of a comment section or the discussion section (holding down enter and causing people to scroll down past blank lines)
  • Intentionally creating blank posts
  • Excessive emoji spam or nonsensical emoji spam
  • Excessive self-promotion of user generated content (e.g., spamming Discord server links, spamming links or videos in unrelated sections of the site)
  • Posts which contain just gibberish (e.g., "dfjvfcbjhfcgvbhhjgfb")
  • Posts containing ASCII art (unless allowed by Staff)
  • Copypasta posts

Underage User Policy

If a user is suspected or found to be under the age of 13, their account will be globally blocked by FANDOM out of precautionary measures in regards to the FANDOM terms of use.

If you wish to be unblocked, please let an admin know and send in an appeal containing why you were blocked and why you think it is incorrect / why you should be unblocked / why you won't do it again.

Additional Notes

Make sure to have common sense. Even if it's not listed in the rules, you may still be punished depending on the situation and severity.

Warning Information

Warnings can be given to users by Staff for violating these rules. Collecting multiple warnings will lead to a ban from this wiki. Depending on the severity of the violation, you may gain multiple warnings or an immediate ban.
