Platforming
From The Gimkit Wiki
Platforming is a form of movement added with Don't Look Down, and was again used in Dig It Up and Knockback. It acts similar to classic 2D side-scrollers. If a game mode has Platforming enabled, the player will only be able to move left and right, but the player will be able to jump by pressing W, Spacebar, or Up Arrow. By pressing these buttons twice in a row or once in the air, the player can double jump.
Notes
- Platformer Mode was not added to Gimkit Creative on release. However, Team Gimkit started development for Platforming in Gimkit Creative around January 30, 2024, according to a comment Josh Feinsilber made on Discord.
- Jakub Joras, a Gimkit Staff member, was the main developer for Platforming, as he took multiple classes in physics.
- When asked if fall damage would be added to Platforming, Josh Feinsilber confirmed that they might add it, but they have no confirmed plans as of yet.
- Upon release of 2024 Season 3, it was announced that Platforming would be released soon as Beta in Gimkit Creative.
- The Beta release is only for Season Ticket holders only,
- It will be fully released to non-Season Ticket holders later in 2024.
- Despite only Season Ticket holders being able to create Platforming maps in Gimkit Creative, they are able to be shared in Discovery by non-Season Ticket holders.
- The Beta release of Gimkit Creative Platforming was March 19, 2024.
- Gravity was lessened for all Platforming maps for April Fools' Day 2024.
- Official Modes that have Platforming physics include Don't Look Down, Dig It Up, and Knockback.
