"As a tiny company, maintaining two products was stretching us thin, and given Inks low adoption rate, it just didn't make sense to continue. We decided we'd rather do one thing really well, than have something we really weren't putting the effort and resources into. "

Gimkit Ink was a Google Classroom-styled website which launched in February 2021[1] and was eventually shut down in May 2022. In Gimkit Ink, teachers were able to create projects that could be contributed to by either anyone or just students. Projects could be configured to allow for articles, stories, or both. Teachers also had access to "The Paper", which showed the latest posts across all of their projects.[2] The teacher was able to provide feedback to posts by picking between "Nice Work!" and "Not Quite There" or leaving a comment.[3]

Articles

Articles were a free write space that allowed for formatting and embedding various things.[4] Teachers were able to cap the amount of words an article could have.

Stories

Stories were comprised of several canvases in a row. Each canvas allowed for text, customizable backgrounds, and embedding a variety of things: Images, Youtube videos, Desmos graphs, Scratch projects, Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Sheets, Anchor podcasts, and Codepens.

Publishing

After completing an article or story, students were able to publish it. Posts required the student's name, the post's title, and an emoji. Students were able to choose whether the post was publicly visible, anonymous, or only visible to the teacher.
