Gamemodes are games within Gimkit where players can answer questions defined by the host. Non-2D gamemodes typically consist of players answering questions in order to gain currency, which can be used to purchase upgrades. 2D gamemodes allow players to control Gims, either in a top-down map or in a platformer map with physics. Players still need to answer questions, usually to gain energy to be able to perform actions.
