Apocalypse is a cooperative base defense gamemode. In it, players must defend a base from infinite waves of enemies that scale with time.

Roles can be changed during the game at the base. Every time you change your role, you get the ability to return to the bunker once.

Upgrades

To the top left of the base Crimson Cruz can be found selling the following upgrades.

  • 1.25x Damage Multiplier - 5 Crystal
  • 1.5x Damage Multiplier - 15 Crystal
  • Unlock "Crowd Control" Role - 5 Forbidden Crystal

Forbidden Crystal can be crafted at a workbench towards the bottom right of the map, and requires 5 crystal and 10 dynamic stone.

Enemies

Enemies do not attack players, but will instead target the vault, attempting to destroy anything in their way. The vault has 150 Health, and players will lose and the game will end if the vault is destroyed. All enemies have a chance at dropping 1 crystal when defeated.

Spawning

Each wave, enemies will spawn over the course of 25 seconds. Every enemy has a power level, and enemies will spawn so until the max power level for that wave is reached. Additionally, enemies will have their health increased by a percentage dependent on the number of players (including the first) and the difficulty. See below for information on the max power level and health increase percentage for each difficulty.

Graveler Juniors don't spawn naturally- whenever a Graveler is defeated, 2-4 equal level Graveler Juniors are spawned. Graveler Juniors have the same skin as Gravelers, but will instead appear much smaller.

Lore

In the top right corner of the map near the ship is Dr. Synapse. Talking to him will give the dialog "Listen, I need help. There’s something seriously wrong, and I need to do something. But...I don’t know who to trust. Make it to Wave 40 without the base taking a single hit and then we can chat."

If this task is successfully completed he will give the following dialog lines and responses.

  • "Okay, it looks like you are a fighter and I could use you."
  • "Use me for what?"
  • "Well, first things first. My name isn’t Dr. Synapse. My name is Dr. Aventon."
  • "Why the name change?"
  • "When we…landed here, I had to go undercover. After what happened to the ship, I knew the NSC would come after for me for the damages."
  • Damages?
  • "My ship, the Alphastar? It crash landed here. The plants on our ship started becoming sentient and evil when I began watering them with Chemical Supreme."
  • "Okay…"
  • "I’m not proud of it, but I made a side deal because NSC doesn’t pay the best. I was given orders to water those plants with Chemical Supreme and make it look like it was my idea."
  • "Orders from who?"
  • "Turtlestone."
  • "No way!"
  • "Yes. And Turtlestone wouldn’t have asked me to do that unless she knew what it would do…to all of us. I bet she doesn’t know I’m alive."
  • "What’s next?"
  • "I need to repair the ship and head home. Some questions need to be answered like how Turtlestone new plants would behave that way under Chemical Supreme. And why she wanted the Alphastar and my crew gone."
  • "..."
  • "I could use your help if you wouldn’t mind. It’s not going to be easy to get justice for what happened."

Trivia

  • When you lose a game of Apocalypse, The Vault opens and you can see a small portion of the inside.
  • Before Halloween, Crystals could only be used for healing the base, Dynamic Stone could only be used for building and could not be broken in any way by players, and there were no NPCs or workbenches.
